Superman (2025) - Official Trailer

Here it is, the full official trailer for Superman (2025)! Here is the synopsis:

The film explores Clark Kent / Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his adoptive human family in Smallville, Kansas.

Superman is my number one favorite superhero, so I am very excited for this movie (as you would expect)! I like this trailer mainly because you can't really tell what the movie's actual plot is. I remember that last Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016) trailer just giving everything away, leaving no surprise. With this one, there is a lot going on, but I am not sure how they are all connected together.

I just hope this movie is good! Can't wait to see Mr. Terrific, Hawk Girl, and Guy Gardner in action on the big screen, too! Superman comes out internationally July 9, 2025 and on July 11, 2025 in America!

Superman (2025) - Official Teaser Trailer

It's finally here! The teaser trailer for Superman, directed by James Gunn, has been released. If you haven't been following the news, Superman is the first movie in the DC Universe (DCU). Here is the current synopsis:

Superman embarks on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent.

After watching this teaser multiple times today, I am very optimistic about it. I hope it is amazing, and shows what's so great about Superman (it's not just his super powers). As much as I loved the Zack Snyder DC movies, there were things in them I didn't necessarily agree with. It's way too early to say, but this new movie may show the hope, optimism, and selflessness that Superman represents more overtly. Also, so cool to see Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific, and Guy Gardner (Green Lantern) in live action!

Superman comes out July 11, 2025. I will be there!

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023) - Trailer

Here is the official trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the sequel to Aquaman (2018). Jason Momoa returns as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, and James Wan returns as director. Here is the synopsis:

Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.

I am actually looking forward to this one, and not just because I'm a DC fan! Aquaman was the last DC movie I watched in theaters, and it was the movie I watched in theaters as well (before the pandemic started). My life sucked at the time (terrible job and terrible health caused by the terrible job) so taking the time out to actually watch that movie was an awesome experience. From what the trailer is showing, it looks like it could be a good one! Of course, I wonder how everything is going to go now that the DCEU is no more, and the problems with Amber Heard (who plays Mera) are seemingly over with. I guess we have to watch it for ourselves and see!

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom comes out in theaters on December 20, 2023!

Blue Beetle (2023) – Official Trailer

The trailer for Blue Beetle has finally dropped! The Blue Beetle is a DC superhero who has been around since 1939! This movie focuses on Jaime Reyes, the third version of the Blue Beetle character. Here is the synopsis:

Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE.

Fair warning, the trailer seems to spoil the Blue Beetle's whole origin, so watch out for that. Nonetheless, it looks like this movie is going to rock! I will admit, the character of Jaime Reyes is from my hometown, and some scenes were even shot here (in the downtown area), so I am very excited about that. I also love George Lopez's mullet in this! Anyways, Blue Beetle comes out August 18, 2023. Let's hope it's really good!

Accident Man (2018) - A Review

Accident Man is a fun ride with lots of action!

Accident Man is an action/thriller/comedy movie released in the United States and the United Kingdom in 2018. It stars Scott Adkins, Ray Stevenson, David Paymer, Michael Jai White, Ray Park, Amy Johnston, Perry Benson, Ross O'Hennessy, and Ashley Greene. Accident Man was co-written and produced by Scott Adkins, with Jesse V. Johnson directing and Tim Man choreographing the action. Accident Man is based on the comic strip by Pat Mills and Tony Skinner.

Scott Adkins as Mike Fallon, the Accident Man.

In Accident Man, Scott Adkins plays Mike Fallon, an assassin who makes the targets of his kills look like they died in an accident. He frequents a pub called the Oasis, where other assassins hang out and they receive their assignments. The Oasis is run by Big Ray, a retired assassin and all of the assassins' mentor. The other assassins who come here are Carnage Cliff (played by Ross O'Hennessy) a big brute of a guy who kills his targets with an axe; Poison Pete (played by Stephen Donald), whose method of killing is self explanatory; Mac (played by Ray Park) and Mick (played by Michael Jai White) military special Ops assassins who make their targets' deaths look like they were victims of street crime; Finicky Fred (played by Perry Benson) who comes up with weird ways and weapons to kill his targets; and Jane The Ripper (played by Amy Johnston), an assassin who seduces her targets before killing them with her sword (it is rumored she has a collection of her victims' 'manhood' but the other assassins are too afraid to find out if it is true). They all get along, for the most part, until...

Mike finds out his ex-girlfriend has been murdered, and when he looks into it, the way she died seems very familiar (let's just say, he is friendly with the killers). With the help of the girlfriend of his ex, Charlie (played by Ashley Greene), Mike goes after who he knows is responsible. With each battle, he gets more information that leads to the person who ordered the hit, and he is determined to make that person pay!

Mike Fallon can more than handle any opponent that comes his way.

It has taken a while, but I finally watched Accident Man! I didn't really have any expectations for this movie; I thought it could end up great or it could disappoint me. Lucky for me, it ended up great! Accident Man is full of interesting characters, some dark comedy, and awesome fight scenes! What more could you want in an action movie? The story moves at a rapid pace, and it is never boring. The dialogue is good, too. Being shady people, most everyone in Accident Man uses very salty language. Scott Adkins is great in his role as Mike Fallon; he is an antihero, but even he has his limits. He just wants to find and kill the person who ordered the hit on the love of his life. How can you not root for him? Of course, Michael Jai White kills it in his role, but more on the acting side of things. He just performs his lines so naturally. He really should be a bigger star. It was great to see David Paymer in this movie. I would never expect to see him in a movie like this! He is pretty funny in this, too.

The fight scenes in Accident Man are so good!

But what about the action? Well, the action in Accident Man rocks! Scott Adkins has exciting fights with most everyone in this movie. Scott throws some awesome kicks in this! In the first fight scene, Mike Fallon fights some guys in a bar who are harassing a woman. Here we learn how brutally ruthless he is as a fighter, because he beats them up bad, breaking their bones in the process. I liked the fight scene where an assassin on a motorcycle attempts to kill Mike. This scene was full of Hong Kong cinema homages, from the assassin wearing yellow and black (like Bruce Lee in Game Of Death, 1978), to Mike Fallon using Richard Norton's famous quote ("Painful?"), to Mike Fallon doing an absolutely wild kick that Jackie Chan did in Wheels On Meals (1984). Great stuff! Scott Adkins takes on Ray Park (Darth Maul and Toad himself) and Michael Jai White (Spawn and Black Dynamite himself) at the same time. Great fight scene, and Ray Park does some awesome moves in this one. Scott takes on Amy Johnston in a hard-hitting fight, that is full of sexual tension. Amy Johnston is an awesome fighter, and she holds her own against Scott in their fight. Hopefully we see more of her on the big screen! The fight scenes are fast, hard-hitting, and exciting. Very Hong Kong-style, which I appreciate. Scott Adkins is the man in this movie.

As you can guess, I highly recommend watching Accident Man. If you are looking for a fun, action-packed movie, this is it! Mike Fallon is such an interesting character, that I hope Accident Man continues as a film series. There is so much they can do with this world. Accident Man: Hitman's Holiday was released in 2022, so it has continued so far (and I've read that it is really good). Scott Adkins is such an underrated action star. He should be proud of what he, Tim Man, and Jesse V. Johnson accomplished with Accident Man. Watch it! Now!

Blade Of The Immortal (2017) - A Review

Takashi Miike directs another awesome movie.

Blade Of The Immortal is a samurai/action movie released in Japan in 2017, starring  Takuya Kimura, Hana Sugisaki, Sota Fukushi, Ichikawa DanjÅ«rō XIII, Erika Toda, Chiaki Kuriyama, and Hayato Ichihara. It was directed by Takashi Miike (in what was advertised as his 100th movie), and is based on the manga, Blade Of The Immortal by Hiroaki Samura.

Takuya Kimura as Manji.

In Blade Of The Immortal, Takuya Kimura plays Manji, a swordsman on the run from the government and who is taking care of his mentally ill sister. A group of ronin capture his sister to lure Manji into a battle to collect the bounty on his head. The ronin do not keep their promise (you'll see what I'm talking about), so Manji fights and kills all of them, getting mortally wounded in the process. A mysterious old woman comes to Manji as he is dying, and he asks her to finish him off. Instead, she puts 'blood worms' into his wound, which begin to heal him...

Hana Sugisaki as Rin Asano.

Fifty two years later, a young girl named Rin Asano (played by Hana Sugisaki) witnesses her father being murdered and her mother being attacked and taken by Kagehisa Anotsu (played by Sota Fukushi) and his Ittō-ryū members. Rin promises on her father's grave to get revenge for his death and to find her mother. She eventually decides to hire Manji, who is now immortal, to kill the Ittō-ryū members and to be her bodyguard. Rin reminds Manji of his sister, so he naturally feels protective of her.

As Manji kills off Ittō-ryū members, this captures the attention of Kagehisa and his cohorts. They find out Manji is immortal, which makes him an even bigger target. Kagehisa wants the Ittō-ryū to become part of the shogunate, which their leader agrees to. Meanwhile, Manji and Rin agree to team up with another group to take down Kagehisa and the Ittō-ryū. Betrayals happen, and Rin also decides to take down Kagehisa by herself. An all out battle occurs between Manji, Kagehisa, and other groups! Will Rin finally get revenge?

Sota Fukushi as Kagehisa Anotsu (middle) with the Ittō-ryū.

Blade Of The Immortal is a pretty faithful adaptation of the manga, though the overall plot (the manga was 30 volumes) had to be condensed to fit into a two hour and twenty minute movie. The manga's author was satisfied with this movie, which says a lot about the director, Takashi Miike, and the quality of this movie. It is a great movie! Interesting plot, interesting characters, and awesome action. Takuya Kimura is excellent as Manji, a disgraced samurai who has been cursed with immortality. Though he is the hero, he is a killer. He does have a moral code, though, and he has justified reasons for killing his opponents. Though there is a darkness to Manji, he is still likable and easy to root for. Hana Sugisaki as Rin Asano is a driven young woman; she is a diligent martial artist who wants to use her skill to kill Kagehisa Anotsu. Even though she is strong, she is still vulnerable. She isn't strong enough to defeat Kagehisa yet, and she is highly emotional when it comes to Manji. Rin and Manji's relationship is interesting to watch unfold. Sota Fukushi as Kagehisa Anotsu is a complicated villain. You think he is pure evil, but you find out he has reasons for what he is doing. Still, what he did to Rin's parents was inexcusable (in my view), so he gained very little sympathy from me.

There is a lot of action in Blade Of The Immortal, and it is bloody and violent!

There is a lot of action in Blade Of The Immortal! For some reason, I was not expecting that much action in this, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much action there is. A majority of the action is sword and weapons-based, and it is violent and bloody. There is a lot of blood spraying and limbs flying! The fights are very good, and some fights (especially the end battle) last a good, long time. Though Manji is immortal (he does get limbs cut off in battle), he is not impervious to pain. He suffers through his battles, and he has to recover after them. In his final battle, it does look like he has a chance of dying, so you are on the edge of your seat during that whole sequence. The fight scenes may not have that Hong Kong choreography, but they are still highly entertaining and exciting. Another cool thing about the movie and the fight scenes are that all of the major characters have different weapons that they use. Really adds to the action!

As you can imagine, I highly recommend Blade Of The Immortal. It really is a good movie, with a deeper than it seems plot, interesting characters, and awesome fight scenes. The cinematography is great, as well as the soundtrack (the ending theme is amazing). After watching Blade Of The Immortal, I am very interested in reading the manga! This is a manga-to-live action movie adaptation done right. Takashi Miike is truly a master at his craft.

Accident Man: Hitman's Holiday (2022) - Movie Trailer

Check out the trailer for Accident Man: Hitman's Holiday, the sequel to Accident Man (2018). Scott Adkins stars in this, as well as being producer and co-writer of the script for it. This movie was directed by the Kirby Brothers (George & Harry). Accident Man is based on a comic strip character created by Tony Skinner and Pat Mills. Here is the synopsis:

The Accident Man (Scott Adkins) is back and this time he must best the top assassins in the world to protect the ungrateful son of a mafia boss, save the life of his only friend and rekindle his relationship with his maniacal father figure.

This movie looks amazing to me! I want to watch this so bad! I need to check out the first Accident Man movie first, though. Maybe a future review? We shall see... Accident Man: Hitman's Holiday comes out in theaters and on digital on October 14, 2022!

SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS Official Trailer 1 & BLACK ADAM Comic-Con Sneak Peek

The Shazam! Fury Of The Gods trailer was finally unveiled at San Diego Comic Con, and it looks very cool! This movie is the sequel to Shazam! (2019), with many of the first film's stars returning. The synopsis is:

Shazam takes on the villainous Hespera and Kalypso, daughters of the Greek titan Atlas.

I still have not been able to watch Shazam! yet, but I really, really want to! This trailer makes me want to watch it even more! Can't wait for this one! Shazam! Fury Of The Gods comes out December 21, 2022!

A sneak peak trailer for Black Adam also premiered at San Diego Comic Con! Very cool that archenemies Shazam and Black Adam had their trailers drop on the same day! We see a lot more of Dr. Fate and Hawkman in this one! Here is the synopsis, if you don't remember it:

Dick Tracy (1990) - A Review

Underrated masterpiece, in my opinion.

Dick Tracy is an American comic book/action/crime/movie released in 1990 starring Warren Beatty, Madonna, Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, Mandy Patinkin, James Caan, Glenne Headley, and Charlie Korsmo. Warren Beatty directed the movie, based on the classic comic strip by Chester Gould.

Warren Beatty as Dick Tracy. So cool.

Warren Beatty plays Dick Tracy, the top detective in the city whose top mission is stopping organized crime. Big Boy Caprice (played by Al Pacino) is the top crime boss in the city and buying up small businesses to beef up his criminal empire. A young street kid (played by Charlie Korsmo) witnesses some gangsters being rubbed out by two of Big Boy's men. Coincidentally, Dick Tracy captures The Kid after he steals a person's watch.

The Kid, Tess Trueheart, and Dick Tracy bonding over food.

Seeing the situation The Kid is in, Dick Tracy takes him in until the paperwork is done to put him in the orphanage (which The Kid does not want to go to). Dick Tracy's girlfriend, Tess Trueheart (played by Glenne Headly) agrees to help take care of The Kid with him. Tess is as understanding of Dick Tracy's position as she can be, but she can't help but feel like he cares more about his job than about her. Dick Tracy loves Tess, but has a hard time expressing that to her...

One of Dick Tracy's biggest challenges is rejecting Breathless Mahoney's advances!

Big Boy Caprice obtains the deed to Club Ritz, the biggest night club in the city, and obtains Breathless Mahoney (played by Madonna) in nefarious fashion. Dick Tracy comes in to investigate this, interrogating Big Boy's hired goons Itchy, Flat Top, and Mumbles, and also Breathless Mahoney. Tracy gets nowhere with them, with Mahoney trying to seduce him. Big Boy then gets all the mob bosses in town to join him; and those who don't, get killed. Dick Tracy is proactive about the situation and thwarts their plan until something goes wrong. Dick Tracy goes to save a colleague being held hostage, and is almost killed until a man with no face (The Blank) saves him.

Dick Tracy has to stop Big Boy from taking over the city, try not to get in too deep with Breathless Mahoney, take care of The Kid, keep his relationship with Tess from falling apart, and figure out whose side The Blank is really on. Can Dick Tracy do it?

Al Pacino as Big Boy Caprice is incredible in this!

I'm just going to say it: Dick Tracy is an underrated masterpiece. This movie is amazing. Warren Beatty kept the comic strip origins front and center in regards to the look of the movie. There are only seven colors in use in the movie, and they are all the same shade throughout. This movie is very colorful and beautiful to look at. The matte painting backgrounds are beautiful as well. A majority of the villains look almost exactly like their comic strip counterparts. So yes, Flat Top does have a flat top of a head. Pruneface is more wrinkly than a California Raisin. Big Boy Caprice, though not overweight, has that stocky physique and villainous face. The make up effects in this are excellent. Of course, Madonna needs no prosthetics, she's perfect as is in this.

Al Pacino's performance in Dick Tracy is over the top - in a good way. He plays the ambitious, abusive crime boss well. You hate him every time he pushes Breathless Mahoney around and slaps her in the face. He is ruthless. He is also funny; all his mumblings and rants when things are falling apart for him are hilarious. Al Pacino is a god! Also great in this is Dustin Hoffman as Mumbles. Great make up for his character as well. His mumbling is unintelligible, and his scenes are actually kind of eerie. Warren Beatty as Dick Tracy is great as well. He is in total control when facing off against gangsters, but he can't seem to openly express his feelings to Tess. He also shows signs of weakness against Breathless Mahoney. Very interesting! Madonna is great in this as a woman who uses her sensuality to get what she wants. She also just wants someone to truly trust and love her. There is some great music in this as well. Madonna and Mandy Patinkin sing some great songs in this! The legendary Stephen Sondheim wrote some really good and catchy songs for Dick Tracy, by the way. I need to buy this soundtrack!

I was way into Dick Tracy back when this movie came out. I couldn't watch it until it premiered on The Disney Channel (remember when the Disney Channel showed a wide variety of things? I miss those days). I loved it! Years go by, decades actually, and I see the Dick Tracy Blu-Ray at the store! I was broke, so I couldn't buy it (something I really regret). Finally, I found it on a streaming site (Tubi), and I immediately watched it! This movie is even better than I remembered! It looks great in HD, and the music really stood out to me this time. It's weird how I could remember exact dialogue from this movie, even though I hadn't seen it in decades! By the way, everybody was making a big deal about Madonna/Breathless Mahoney in this movie back then, but I was all about Glenne Headly/Tess Trueheart! Still am.

So, I highly recommend watching Dick Tracy! I feel this movie doesn't get the love it deserves. It's pretty true to the source material, it looks amazing, has great music, an interesting plot that doesn't drag, and some pretty good action. I always wished there was a sequel to Dick Tracy, but that will never be. Just enjoy this snapshot of early 90s comic book movies. It is great that this movie won some Oscars, it totally deserved them!
